Tips for a QR Code That Scans
A few habits that keep a printed code easy to scan.
Keep strong contrast
A dark pattern on a light background scans best. Light-on-dark codes don't scan on some readers.
Leave a clear margin
Keep a blank border around the code, at least four modules wide (GS1 calls it the quiet zone), and don't put text or edges right against it.
Keep the content short
The more a static code holds, the denser its pattern and the harder it is to scan when small or far away. For a long link, a dynamic code stays simple.
Use SVG for print
SVG stays sharp at any size; PNG suits screens and documents. A transparent background needs a light surface behind it.
Test before you print
Scan the final file, at its final size, with more than one phone.
